2 Tables in 1 Week

We have had a pretty nice week. The couch and table are all set up and it feels like a real almost home now. Getting the table was an adventure, let me share. We actually got 2 tables in a week. I was so excited when the first table arrived that I wanted to set it up all by myself before Jonathan got home. So I opened the box and all of my excitement vanished right before my eyes...the table was broken! I called Jonathan and told him all about it and how disappointed I was. He called walmart, and got it all arranged to have them pick up the broken table. If they were to deliver another table to us it would've been another 2.5 week wait, so I called around to the local stores and found one. We borrowed a truck from one of the people that we met at the super bowl party, and viola we have a table. Joy!

I made a couple of new dishes last week too. I made a roast, a recipe from Alton Brown, that when it was finished was so dry because I forgot to put the fat side up so it could drip through the meat...instead I put it down and well, the finished result was a dry roast. But on the upside, the juices and other ingredients when pureed made a steak sauce. So I made homemade steak sauce! With that meal I also made asparagus. Man I love that stuff, what a great recipe! It had nutmeg and orange peel on it. Delish! Then the next day I made a chicken recipe from Panera. It was really good too. The chicken was so tender and juicy. I tried to make dinner rolls to go with it, but, I had a yeast malfunction. The dough never rose, I tried kneading in more yeast (this time it actually grew). The bread finally rose, but the end result was some pretty tough bread. It did have a good flavor though.

Funny story. So when we were unpacking the kitchen stuff a while ago, we thought we lost our brand new glass measuring cup. I knew I had seen it while we were unpacking, thought we had washed it, but I just didn't remember what happened to it. While we were looking all over the place for it, we found a measuring cup with no measurements on it (Jonathan had one with no lines on it so we thought it was his), and had finally settled on the idea that we probably, accidentally threw it away. In an effort to make things better, we bought another measuring cup from the store. Washed it. While my wonderful husband was unloading the dishwasher, he asked, "Why did you wash my measuring cup?" I said, "I didn't wash your measuring cup, yours is right here..." Then it clicked, the dishwasher washed off all of the measurement lines. So, now we have two line-less brand  new measuring cups. My remedy...a trip to Michaels to get a glass marker or paint to redraw the lines on our measuring cups.
