That Day Called Valentine's Day

So this was the week of Valentines, I bet you all are curious to know what we actually did on Valentine's Day. Well, we exchanged cards (in a minute I will share the funny story related to this), had a quiet dinner of leftovers, and then went shopping. It was a pleasant evening.

Now, we also had the repairmen coming to our house on Valentine's Day...and they totally threw off all of my plans. I had planned to have pretty music playing, the Spaghetti on the table with toasted garlic bread, and some glasses of tasty beverages on the table. Maybe some candles to set the tone of the evening, even though we were having leftovers, I still wanted it to be nice. Well, when the repairmen came to look at the dishwasher, let's just say that all of those romantic plans just went right out the window...They listened to our dishwasher and decided that we needed to get a replacement . So after they took down the one that was in our kitchen I went to examine their work because I had heard some bad sounds (it took them about 30 minutes from the time they took the dishwasher downstairs to when they brought a new one back up). I didn't notice anything right off the bat except for some gross dust and a ton of water just chilling in the middle of my kitchen floor. As I went to go get the cleaning supplies, I noticed that they had left the front door open, not cool, it was very cold outside so they were letting out all of my heat! Anyway, after they replaced the dishwasher, and left around 4:30, I went to go look at the rebuilt dishwasher that they installed. It smelled of cigarettes...and then I noticed it. They put two terrible chips right on the edge of my counter!!!! I'm so disappointed that they screwed it up! As you know, I'm a first born. I like everything to have a place and to be there (ok maybe a little OCD/perfectionist). If it's not, it kind of drives me crazy. So these chips are pretty frustrating for me, they look terrible, I'm so sad.

After I took pictures and documented the mishap (I sent the pictures in an email to Jonathan and myself), I realized that Jonathan would be home any minute. I rushed into the bathroom, and put on a little bit of makeup to make it seem like I had prepared for the day. When he came in, I asked him to go check the mail. Well, then I saw it. A bunch of flowers and a card all for me. All day I had felt like I was forgetting something, then I received an email telling me it was my one month anniversary (crazy that I didn't remember this...does that make me a terrible wife??? I hope not! Thank goodness for email!), so I thought that was all I had forgotten. Nope, it really wasn't that at all! It was something for Valentines Day! So I bolted to the computer desk, grabbed some paper, and went and locked myself in the spare room. I frantically started digging through my boxes trying to find my teaching supplies, this is where my markers are. Once I found them, I started making a card for my husband. He came back upstairs from getting the mail, knocked on the spare room door, and asked if he could come in. Obviously, I told him he couldn't. I finally came out, held the card behind my back, and managed to secretly shove it on the counter underneath the envelope for my card. When he saw my card, his reaction was priceless. This is how it went: Shaking his head, laughing heartily, and then these were his exact words, "I'm so posting this on Facebook!" HAHA. What a day.

Last night, we went out and had a delicious dinner at a place called Basta _____. (Don't remember the last part). But it was very nice, we dressed up, went out for dinner, and had a great time. What a fabulous evening it was.
